You might remember Mick Konstantin from his viral hit YouTube video where his creative tune caught the attention of Conor McGregor himself prior to his boxing matchup against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather.
Turns out the 24-year-old schoolteacher was flown to Las Vegas for a once in a lifetime all expenses paid trip to watch the fight, courtesy of Conor McGregor.
The experience was surreal, according to Konstantin. It included VIP seating for the fight, premium hotel, and free merchandise. He counted many celebrities in attendance at the fight, a few of whom actually recognized Mick from his hit song and snapped pictures with him. And as a great way to wrap up the trip, he finally got a chance to meet McGregor during a fight afterparty.
It seemed like quite a trip and one that may have opened up some opportunities to work with McGregor’s management team for content in the future.
Seeing fan loyalty rewarded like this shows the importance of interacting with your fan base. From all of this, McGregor fans had a song to rally behind, promoting morale and hype leading up to the fight. It made the dreams of one fan come true and gave us an inside look at things for those of us living vicariously through Konstantin during all of this.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see more of Mick’s songwriting for McGregor in the future. The man clearly made an impression with fans and McGregor, and it shows promotion comes in all shapes and sizes in today’s digital world.
Sometimes, the best approach isn’t to shout an event as loudly as possible to get fans to listen, but rather see what they’re saying and producing in response like Konstantin did. It’s a rewarding experience for all involved, and brings the fans closer to the sports they love to follow.
